Introduction

The transition to cleaner energy is a priority in Belgium. Good news: if you install photovoltaic panels, a domestic battery or an energy management system, you can benefit from a number of grants and subsidies, depending on your region.

Here’s a clear summary of the aid available in Wallonia, Flanders and Brussels in 2025.

Various aids

Solar installation grants in Wallonia

Green certificates

  • For installations connected before the end of 2023, some still benefit from green certificates.

  • For new installations, this assistance is withdrawn, but you are exempt from the prosumer fee for 5 years if you install a two-way meter.

Communal bonuses (variable)

  • Some Walloon municipalities still offer local bonuses.

  • The amount and conditions vary, so contact your local authority.

6% reduced VAT

  • If your building is over 10 years old, VAT on panels is reduced to 6% instead of 21%.

Solar incentives in Brussels (Bruxelles-Capitale)

RENOLUTION 2025 premiums

  • Substantial grants of up to €1,500 for solar installations.

  • The amount depends on household income, installed surface area and building location.

  • For batteries, the bonus can reach an additional €1,000.

  • Please note: the subsidy ceiling is limited each year → you need to apply quickly.

Also 6% VAT

  • Same rule as for Wallonia: applicable to homes over 10 years old.

02

In Flanders: special scheme with the “premie Mijn VerbouwPremie”.

More green certificates

  • From 2021, there will be no more green certificates for new installations.

Premium for domestic batteries (2025)
