Air conditioning and air-to-air heat pumps in 2026

Updated in September 2026. A modern reversible air conditioner is an air-to-air heat pump: it cools in summer and can heat efficiently during much of the year. Correct sizing must always be carried out room by room.

How much capacity does each room need?

Floor area alone is not enough. We consider the room dimensions, ceiling height, insulation, window orientation, floor level, occupancy and desired temperature. When several rooms are selected, each room receives its own indicative capacity.

Indicative investment

As a guide, allow approximately €1,950 per installed indoor unit. The final price depends on the required capacity, pipe length, number of indoor units, condensate drainage, electrical work and accessibility.

Savings compared with gas or direct electric heating

An air-to-air heat pump moves heat instead of generating it directly. Its actual consumption depends on seasonal efficiency, outdoor temperature, insulation and energy tariffs. Our estimate compares your current heating system with the heat-pump scenario without promising a fixed saving.

Summer comfort, quiet operation and air quality

Comfort is not determined by capacity alone. Correct positioning, low sound levels, airflow and individual room control are essential. A professional design avoids draughts and keeps temperatures stable.

Frequently asked questions

Is a multi-split system always the best option?

No. We compare multi-split systems with separate units based on distances, simultaneous use, efficiency and the flexibility you need.

Can it heat throughout the year?

Yes, with a suitable model. Actual performance still depends on the building envelope and outdoor temperature.

Is maintenance required?

Regular maintenance is recommended to preserve efficiency, air quality and service life.
